The brief
HQWS has produced shows, ceremonies and brand experiences since 1996. Its website had to be one of its productions.
The idea was a 3D falcon in the first screen that keeps flying through the site as you scroll, leading visitors from shows to brand experiences to sport.
Built with
UX lead & PM I led UX and ran the project for a shows company that wanted its website to be a production too.
What I did
- Led the concept: a 3D falcon that carries visitors through the site.
- Directed the WebGL work with the developers, balancing spectacle and speed.
- Structured the portfolio into shows, brand experiences and sport.
- Designed project stories that pair the pictures with the story behind each production.
- Managed delivery and the launch.
The impact
- 3portfolio worlds: shows, brand experiences and sport
- 60fpsfalcon animation on modern devices
- 2xtime on site against the old website
- 30+productions in the portfolio
The call I made
One guide through the site
An events portfolio can feel like a gallery of unrelated photos. The falcon gives every visit a thread: it flies ahead as you scroll and lands where each section begins.
What shipped
- A WebGL falcon that flies through the site on scroll
- A portfolio of shows, ceremonies and brand experiences
- Project stories told in pictures and words
- Sections for government, institutional and sports events
- A clear call to bring an impossible project
On screen
