The brief
DWE needed to replace a legacy site with one that matched its standing in Dubai's government, while staying warm and easy to use.
Years of research, strategic plans and media archives had to fit without clutter, and the strategy had to be readable by anyone, not only policy specialists.
Built with
UX lead & PM I led UX and ran the project for an Arabic-first government site with years of research to organise.
What I did
- Ran stakeholder sessions to agree what the site must say first: the mission and the strategy.
- Restructured years of reports and media into a searchable knowledge hub.
- Led an Arabic-first design that adapts cleanly to English.
- Turned the 2023 to 2027 strategic plan into graphics people actually read.
- Managed the build, the content migration and acceptance testing with DWE's team.
The impact
- 300+reports and publications in the knowledge hub
- +45%report downloads in the first quarter
- 2languages, designed Arabic first
- 5strategy years made readable at a glance
The call I made
Arabic first, not mirrored
Most bilingual sites are designed in English and mirrored into Arabic. We designed DWE in Arabic first and adapted it to English, which avoided the awkward line breaks and cramped headings that mirroring creates.
What shipped
- A gold, beige and white identity with high-end Arabic and English type
- The 2023–2027 strategic plan broken into readable graphics
- An initiatives portfolio, from the Global Women's Forum to Emirati Women's Day
- A knowledge hub where reports filter by year and topic
- A media centre for news, galleries and speeches
