The brief
EDGE is one of the world's top military suppliers, with a portfolio that runs from missiles and air platforms to electronic warfare and training.
The design job was to make a very large, very technical portfolio feel clear and confident, and to present a group of companies as one brand.
Built with
UI/UX lead I led the UI/UX team on the corporate site for a group of companies that needed to read as one brand.
What I did
- Set the design direction for a group of companies presented as one brand.
- Shaped the solutions catalogue by capability, so buyers find a platform by what it does.
- Introduced line drawings for every product, so a large portfolio reads as one family.
- Ran design reviews and critiques across the UI/UX team.
- Handed over a component set for the Drupal build and reviewed it before launch.
The impact
- Top 25military supplier worldwide, presented as one brand
- 1design language across every EDGE entity
- 200+products organised by capability
- 6+capability groups in the catalogue
The call I made
Draw, don't photograph
Product photography varied widely across the group's companies. Consistent line drawings for every platform made the catalogue feel like one portfolio, and kept sensitive detail off the page.
What shipped
- A clean, white, product-led design language
- A solutions catalogue grouped by capability
- Product pages built around line drawings of each platform
- A newsroom for the group's announcements
- A component set handed to a Drupal build
